I've never seen an SC Signature with SC's signature on the headstock, like this one on a recent eBay auction:

When was Alembic doing that? Is it common?

Well, where do you think the "Signature" series got its name? I think it used to be standard issue, but nowadays you have to ask for it specifically.

Other than Stanley Clarke (introduced in 1986), you see Mark King (1989) and Edwin van Huik (?) models with the signatures.

that's news to me. I don't think I've ever seen a Mark King with a signature on the headstock either. Either people don't ask for it very often or I've had a less than probable experience.

Slarty; I seem to recall reading on this board that when the first Stanley Clarkes and Mark Kings were made they had decals of the namesake's signature on the headstock. And I'm thinking maybe this was for the first year or so; I can't really recall. I've seen a number of the SC's with the signature, but I don't remember seeing any MK's with one. And I don't know if the EVH's ever had signature decals.

Ok; I found a prior post by Val in which he says "The signature was on a decal, I think, that got sprayed over. The practice was discontinued a few years ago; nowadays there are no stickers on the signature models."

And I'm wrong about the EVH's. Here is an EVH with the sig.

And my memory is just unreliable. I quick glance at the Showcase section reveals MK's with sigs as well.
