**SOLD!** If you ever wanted to own an Alembic, but did not want to take out a second mortgage! Here is your chance! I am putting up for sale my beloved Alembic Distillate 5-String. Here is a bit of background. I had it built for me in 1990 while I was on the road. So I am the only owner of this instrument. It features a beautiful Colo Bolo top (considered a premium upgrade) and side red LED's in the neck. They still blow my mind when I plug it in! I have cared for this bass like it was a child, there is not one scratch on this baby. Not bad for a 16 year old bass. It was always transported in a Calzone flight case, which is included. The frets are in great shape. They were slightly touched up by a guitar builder in NY (don't remember his name) about 4 years ago. Overall condition I would say is 9.5 out of 10. I have the original build sheet (from Alembic) which will be with the bass. The sound, well it is an Alembic. Nothing sounds like it. It has the clearest highs and deepest lows. And it is hands down the best bass I have ever recorded with! Why am I selling this baby?? Well I mainly play 4-string basses these days and it does not get allot of use. So I figured I sell it and put the funds toward a custom 4-banger. So before I put it on eBay, I figured I give you guys and gals a chance. You can own this baby for $2100 + shipping (US only please). Price includes the Calzone Flight case. Here are the specs: * Model: Alembic Distillate 5-String * Year Built: 1990 * Serial Number: 90D6097 * Body Top: Coco Bolo on Maple * Body Back: Mahogany * Neck: Maple / Purple Heart - 7 Piece * Fingerboard: Ebony * Headstock Veneers: Coco Bolo * Finish: Gloss * Nut: Adjustable Brass * Bridge: Solid Brass * Machine Heads: Gold Alembic-Gotoh * Truss Rods: Dual * Electronics: Alembic DSI * Controls: Volume, Pickup Selector, Low-Pass Filter w/ "Q" Switch, Bass Cut/Boost, Treble Cut/Boost * Scale: 32½" * Nut Width: 2" * 12th Fret Width: 2¼" * Weight: 10 lbs. * Custom Features: Side Red LED's, Strap Locks * Extras: Calzone Flight Case CLICK HERE for a full set of pictures. Normally one would say that is too much for a Distillate, but not this one. What a beauty, and a more than fair price considering the options and condition. Best of luck and it shouldn't take long for someone to jump on this! -bob |

Ken, That is a beauty, for sure! Are the LED's factory? Are they always on, or am I missing the switch somewhere? Charles |

Yes, they are factory LED's. They turn on when you plug the bass in. |

I'm the proud (new) owner of this baby. WOW what an instrument!!! I'm thinking I need another one, would Alembic make a Distillate as a custom order? Love that body shape! Easy, RR |

Ruben, They still make Distillates as a custom body style. Brad |

You'd pretty much be ordering a Europa with the Distillate body and 32" scale to get close. You'd end up with a pickup pan control instead of a selector switch, an improvement in versatility. |

Not to put too fine a point upon it, but this is the Distillate body with extended upper horn. The regular horn is much shorter and less rounded. One guesses that the extended horn is for improved balance on a 5 string. Looking at it again, it must be simply the upper horn of the Spoiler shape.
