While I'm no bolt-neck fan, I have watched these ever since I heard about them, as I'm a big Ned Steinberger fan.

This thing is just dripping with solutions to a lot of my bolt-on discomfort, and for a handbuilt bass (and believe me, Bolin does mighty nice work) it's a decent price. But then I get to the part with his hanger-extension for the strap, and so I guess not all form follows function. I wonder if it's neck heavy from that massive headstock or just because of the Les-Paulish upper bout.

Actually, as I think this one over . . . if I just had to have a bolt-neck bass (not likely in this lifetime), I'd get an MPG instead of the Bolin.

www.mpguitars.com. I really like Matt's design, and I don't underestimate the value of a gigging musician knowing what works and doesn't work on basses he builds out of that experience.
