i know it's not exactly an alembic but;

i have a Dan Dean book my dad bought around ten years ago and have always been fascinated by the bass he's pictured with inside. i knew it wasn't an alembic, but i just loved the shape. if you do a search for "Toucan Bass" on the net and you get a few references to Dan Dean and that's about it. and then all of a sudden here one is... and it's for sale.

Wow... that's the first book I used too when I started and I always gawked at the pictures of him with that bass thinking "some day... I'll have a bass like that". I never really went back to verify that he was/wasn't playing an actual Alembic and later just assumed he was. Even this last year when I bought my first Alembic I thought "finally, a life long (as far as playing bass goes) dream come true". All lies! haha

I know the seller, he's a good dude who just bought the bass a month ago...one of those "bass 'ho" types. I don't think he has too much in it, so the reserve shouldn't be that high.

+1
Robert is good guy and only lives a few miles from me (I bought a Fender Geddy from him). I don't know what his reserve is, but I was bidding on that bass when he popped the BIN. I think he paid a little too much. It looks like he installed new TI flats and gave it a good set-up.
