Looks clean, listed as ALEMBIC Epic 5 string, recent, natural, vgc+, hsc Is this a good "starter" Alembic for a hobbyist? Is there a place that lists approx price for models so I don't have to keep buggin you guys? Yes, I will ask for serial number, condition, etc... |

Seems like a normal price for a used Epic 5 in top shape. I think it's a good bass for anyone, not just a STARTER bass, but keep in mind it's a very different animal than a neck thru Alembic with Q switches. I think of Epics as top end NORMAL basses. Also the neck on a stock Epic 5 string is big which is good for some people but not for all. If you like the feel of a Fender JAZZ bass neck you may not be comfortable with the Epic 5. OF course this is totally MY opinion and others may feel differently. But back to your question ... is the Epic a good STARTER bass ... it's a great bass period! Is $1,200 and change a good price? Yes if it's in top shape with a case. IMO |

Perhaps Joe had this thread in mind, when calling it a ,,starter'' Alembic: http://alembic.com/club/messages/393/26389.html?1142840594 ;-) Gruesse, Pablo |
