Its in excellent condition, comes with a hardshell case which I think isn't orignal. 11 piece laminated neck of purpleheart and maple I believe, with maple body and macassar ebony top. If you've got a couple of matching Schroeder or Epifani cabs I'm interested in trades. I'm also looking for a *very* specific 5 string fretless with a maple/bubinga through-body neck, gold hardware and mahogany core wings/maple facings. The bass is currently on consignment at The Bass Centre in London but I can pull it at anytime for a reasonable offer. |

Steve, why are you selling this? It's an unbelievably fantastic looking bass, probably the nicest Elan I've ever seen, and I'm sure it must sound extra awesome with the ebony. I'd never sell it. Just curious... how come? Well, I'm sure you won't have trouble selling it if that's what you want. It looks fantastic! I love the contrast between the ebony and the maple -especially at the elbow contour. |

Hi Mark, its a painful separation but the circumstances are that I have too many basses and not enough space! I'm supporting 9 basses + hardshell cases and three rigs in a 1 bed London flat which is almost the size of a mouses eardrum. I'm selling two other basses as well, a Modulus Q5SS, a Musicman Cutlass plus assorted rack cases, an Aphex Exciter C2 and other cheaper gear. As much as I like all my basses, unfortunately I have to rationalise the madness and I'm using wooden necked 5-strings more than 6 strings right now. I have one other 6 (a Smith) but I think that the Elan 6 will be more popular and I won't lose as much on the depreciation. Commissioning a matching pair of fretted/fretless Series 2 5-strings would be a dream come true, but will have to remain that way for the time being. They'll have to pry my Series 1 from my dead cold fingers though, before I sell it... :D |

Well, it's definitely the nicest Elan I've ever seen. You should hold out for a GOOD price, which you should be able to get for such a prize. Just make sure you're certain, I'd hate for you to regret your decision. |

Thanks Mark, you're very kind. I hope it sells for a good price too. I'm 20mins drive from Heathrow Airport if someone on the East coast fancies a weekend in London or snags a cheap return ticket. |

I live in Brum and was looking for a 6 string alembic for a few years and didn't find any suitable. One of the ones I checked out looked like it had been dropped and there was damage to the headstock, neck joint. So to find another one in good nick would make me well chuffed especially as my birthday draws ever closer. Can you email me with a price you are looking for for and also the serial number. Thanks Jazzyvee |
