I have been sitting on an original wall of sound Hard trucker 2-12 open back speaker cabinet that I haven't used in half a dozen years. I bought it when I was living in Eugene OR 20 years ago from a "Family" member. Any Idea what this museum piece might be worth today? I know there were several, perhaps even scores, of cabinets like this that hit the open market when the wall of sound was dismantled 30+ years ago, but I have no idea how common such a cabinet is today. I'm not really interested in getting rid of it, because whatever it's worth today ought to pale in comparison to what it will be worth in 30 more years, so I'll probably give it to my kids, but I've been searching for the right group of people who might have an idea as to the value of this box.... I know it's not an alembic, but I'm hoping one of you fine people might have an inkling. Thanks, P70 |

These cabinets show up from time to time and I am surprised that they are not going for more money than they do. I find that depending on the cab, that they sell pretty cheap. I think it might be worth more to a Deadhead than it would be to a regular guy like me. I also would think that it would sell for more if the tie dye front is in good shape too. By the way, I think that back in the day, they would have called it a B-12. An A-12 being single driver, B is two. Also those Hard Trucker cabs were sold even after the wall of sound, so there are a few of them running around still. Not too long ago, I stumbled onto a site that had a bunch for sale. I will try to look up the URL for you. Michael (Message edited by dela217 on March 27, 2006) |

Check this link out. Here is an auction that ended for some Hard Truckers. In the background, you can see that this guy has even more. http://cgi.ebay.com/2X10-HEMPCONE-HEMP-CONE-Grateful-Dead-Speaker-Cabinet_W0QQitemZ7401132102QQcategoryZ119022QQcmdZViewItem |
