Folks,

I've located a 74-74 Series I at www.goodguysguitars.com. I bought my second Essence, the "Burkha King," that I have in Iraq with me from Good Guys. Anyway, I was conversing via email with Kevin B. of Good Guys, and he mentioned that he will sell the Series I for Alembic Club members for a lower price than what is listed on the website.

If you wish to contact Kevin B. about the bass, send me an email and I will send you Kevin's email address - Kevin is the only owner at Good Guys authorized to offer instruments at lower than advertised prices to selected individuals. As Kevin explained to me, he wants to get "the right bass into the right hands," and has actually turned down a dealer that Good Guys didn't like.

If and when you contact Kevin, please mention that you got his contact information from me so he knows that it is a legit club member.

I'm not trying to sell this bass for Good Guys, or shilling for them. I will not benefit in anyway from the sale of this instrument, monetarily or otherwise (kind of hard to benefit from anything when one is in Iraq!). Kevin contacted me in repsonse to a request for information from him, and mentioned this to me. I just thought I'd pass it along. Hopefully someone from the club will get this bass. Though the body shape is not my cup of tea, I'm sure it might be for someone else.

Anyway, for everyone's info and possible use.

Best regards,

Alan in Iraq

Alan - Thanks for the heads up on this bass. I poked in your profile for you email address, but I don't see it. You can email me about this bass at dela217@excite.com.

By the way, what body style is it?

Michael-

You can see it at the website Alan posted. It's the first bass they list on their website.

It appears to be a very clean standard point long scale. I am guessing that the neck looks like walnut/maple/mahog/maple/walnut, with some flame in the walnut. The top and back are a relatively light wood with pretty straight grain, beech maybe? They put the weight at 9.5 lbs and the price at $5495. No mention of the power supply or cable.

It's the old Large Body style, so the horns and point are a bit 'softer'.

It has the box and cable listed under the "detailed description" link beneath the main picture.

Yep, That used to be mine. Sold it just over a year and a half ago. Apparently who I sold it didn't dig it. It is 74-59, clearly visible on the top of the head stock if someone at goodguy's cares to look. A 34" scale that needs an up-grade, otherwise a great feeling and sounding bass.

Do's guys are regular horse traders. Trade'in, sell'en. I had this up on the Alembic site for $2900 for over a year and everyone offered me many hundreds less. Cool!
