I can't swear to any of the above being true but I can tell you that they offer a very convincing bunch of Taurus sounds.I would never sell mine.Hope you find something you like,please keep us informed. Simon Thanks. Still looking and have missed on a bunch of Taurus auctions lately (the IIs have gotten pricey and the Is are beyond any reason given the condition that they're in). Except for the tuning problem mentioned in the listing, these seem to be what I'm looking for. I'll probably try to get them. dw | ||

Closed above $500. Was going to jump in at the end but got left in the dust. Seller had said that these pedals were going for under $300. The market appears to be changing--demand is picking up. Is everyone using pedals now? dw | ||

My recommendation is to get a set of Roland PK-5's or a set of Studio Logic midi pedals and find an EMU Vintage Keys unit(which has great Taurus sounds). Those units are not made anymore but I'm sure you could find one on e-bay. It would be easier and cheaper to get and they would be far more reliable. I have a set of old Basky pedals made by Multivox which sound awesome(not Taurus sounds just good bass tones) but they became less reliable because they are probably 25 -30 years old and I have used them extensively on the road for about 6 years. Parts could be a challenge to find for a set of old pedals that need to be fixed and if there is some major work that needs to be done the costs could add up significantly in labor fees alone. I have both sets of midi pedals I mentioned above and they work fine. If you want more midi control options then I would get the Roland's but, if that is not an issue the Studio Logic's are cheaper(by about $200.00 I believe) and work great. Hey- Just to share my experience on the Taurus path... I shopped for a set of Taurus I's and never found anything in my price range. So, after a lot of research, I bought a set of Roland PK-5 footpedals and a Roland SH-32 synth module. The SH-32 is no longer made but you can find a used one for anywhere from $200-$300 or so. The PK-5's are like $500 new and much less used. Anyways, the point is with this setup (or something like it) you have waaaaayyyyyyyyy more flexability with sounds and how you control them. The SH-32 has two sub-oscillators, so it can really generate some amazingly great bass tones and much, much more. Yes, the Taurus I sounds amazing, but it really only has a couple of good, usable tones to use and you do have to service and maintain the Moog pretty faithfully (contact points, for example). Most people that find a nice set are too scared to even take them out of their home. Just food for thought... for $500 - $700 you could get a "modern" bass pedal setup to start making music right now and still shop for a nice set of Taurus I's when it comes up on Ebay... for at least $1500 (from what I have seen). David, the EMU unit I have is the Vintage Pro not the Vintage Keys(which is an older unit). The pro will have those taurus sounds you are looking for, I'm not sure about the Vintage Keys unit. | ||

Thanks for keeping the thread going. I saw the Crumars. Condition is a bit rough but the price probably reflects that. Did you see that a set of Taurus IIs went for almost $2K over the weekend? It was a flip by a guy who had bought them for $450 in March. After all the good advice I've seen here, I am mostly just an amazed watcher of the Taurus insanity. dw | ||

I know this is a slightly older thread, but thought I'd relate my experience. I had a Moog Rogue keyboard for a while, and wanted to get bass pedals for it. I even recorded something, but without the bass pedals - I'm hitting notes on the keyboard in between playing the guitar: taurus VI But the scaling on the Rogue was off, so I sold it. Instead, I picked up the new Moog Little Phatty and a set of the Roland PK-5 MIDI pedals. Here's something I threw together using the first preset in the Little Phatty, called "Thank You Bob": little taurus A Moog maniac wouldn't mistake it for a Taurus I, but I'm satisfied - it's fun to mess around with the sounds in the Little Phatty. The only thing I would like at this point is more range in the foot pedals! I guess Fatar or something like that used to make them, but they've gone out of production. Oh well, the PK-5 takes up plenty of space as it is... | ||

Belated thanks to hieronymous for the great mp3's.My kinda synth bass. My reason for reviving this thread is to tell you about a download-able VST I came across.Go to the following link; http://antti.smartelectronix.com/ Second item down is the "Taurus Beta 4".Amazingly,given the accuracy of the sounds,this is a free download. I downloaded this VST into the "Fruity Loops" programme on my pc at work-(I manage a small guitar shop so I can get away with calling it research!!).The audio out is linked into a mid size P.A. which is great for listening to gear demo mp3's etc and is perfect for this.You can audition the sounds with the mouse or,as we've done,hook up a midi keyboard and 'Shazam!'. Once up and running,the GUI is manipulated via mouse,keyboard or you can use the excellent presets.Hopefully a pic of the GUI appears below somewhere. Dearly Beloved,to these ears this thing sounds as close to the original as the original.I urge anyone interested to check them out,and if you download and use them,follow the Paypal donation link and send the creator a thank you.The GUI pic is below (hopefully). Some more bass pedal madness! Been experimenting. I guess this first one can be viewed as another installment in the series: taurus VIII The bass is a Rickenbacker 4008 8-string. Drums are by Greg DeGuglielmo. And I'll be honest - I recorded the bass pedals first by themselves, then recorded the bass part. Playing simultaneously is hard! This next one, though, was more live: the 3rd oscillator This one is Gibson Melody Maker bass through Z Vex Woolly Mammoth and is then being processed through the Moog Little Phatty. In this case, the bass had to be played simultaneously with the bass pedals, because the bass signal is interacting with the signal that the Little Phatty is producing. In the first track, the fliter is being controlled by a regular sample-and-hold; the second track the filter is being controlled by a smoothed out S&H - no hands or feet left to manipulate the filter! | ||

Great tracks hieronymous.Taurus pedals and Rickenbackers -Mmmm-mmm!.I guess I'm giving away one of my all time bass god influences there. And yes,so cool to have access to these sounds.Unless some unknown relative bequeathes a set,this is probably the nearest I'll ever get to the mighty Mk1 Taurus.Thanks for posting your tracks,always good to hear them,and as they say across the English Channel (when they're not busy saying Non!)
