I've actually sent GC an offer for this but I don't think they'll take it.

Beautiful bass. I had GC talked down to $650 on a 5 string epic(lefty) a while back, and I kick myself for not buying it. Luckily what will possibly work in your favor is that with the high bid they start out with, no one will probably bid on it. Then, they'll post it again, and around the 3rd posting they'll drop the price a few hundred and still not get any bidders willing to take that first big bid. It's funny how you can put .01 on an item and end up with $3500, but you can't someone to bid that high off the jump. I may be wrong though, it might get a bid tomorrow.

Naaaa, this thing has been up too many times & been used in a fraudulent auction once. I do agree that first bid is keeping bidders away, but they'll keep posting it as they have the money to hold onto the bass & to pay posting fees. Did anybody see if that black Spoiler finally sold? What about the one with three removable fretboards?

The weirdest thing happened on this bass. I made them an offer they didn't accept, they then made me a counter offer I didn't accept then I made another that they denied but countered and I agreed to buy. Haven't heard from them since.?????? I've sent three emails agreeing to their price but to no avail. Oh well, I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Olie, your dealing w/Guitar Center. Those guys could really care less about your happiness. The manager there probably got ticked that the money that you offered was not enough. I've got a friend that works at G.C. and he showed me that they gave this guy trading in some slightly used cymbals .01 per cymbal! You are just better off going to a pawn shop and selling your gear to them than trading it to G.C.

Well they finally called me back and we settled the deal. I should have it by Monday.
My wife is really gonna kill me. I wonder if Mica has a small room in the back of the shop they could let me hide out in until she cools down, (or at least runs out of bullets).

Olie:

You're really living on the edge! Congrats on the new axe and good luck with senior management. If it doesn't work out, say hello to my in-progress-Further when you move into the new digs. LOL

Thanks guys. I was just kidding about the Mrs. She knows that my music carrer is why we don't have to work our butts of now. My playing has allowed me to semi retire and be debt free and really enjoy life. Not bad for 43 year old high school drop out. I have been very very blessed.

I received the bass yesterday and I must admit. I've never really been a bog fan of Spalted Maple but this bass looks great in person. The red lasers on the frett board are cool too.
BUT the most impresive thing about it is the way it plays and sounds. Of the three (MK's) I now have, this one is the most comfortable to me. It plays like a dream and sounds superb.
Its a Mk standard but has several upgrades. Like the purple heart lams in the neck, the red lasers in the frett board...

How do you like the 3/4 body style? Does it balance well? With the Omega cut out, the strap peg is set off center. I tend to prefer to have the neck at about 2:00, or perhaps 1:30. Do you think moving the strap peg to the lower(control) side of the omega would help achieve this?

I Love the 3/4 body. It's very light and fits me pretty good. The balance feels great so far. I will play it tomorrow at church and that will tell me more about the position of the pegs.
It's strung iwth lighter strings than I am used to playing too. Plays great but I bet it will sound better with larger strings.

On another note, I received an email from a dude saying he's seen this bass listed on ebay again. I looked but didn't see the listing. Has anyone else seen the listing. "honeyguitars" (ebay handle) is who sent me the email not sure what to make of it so far.

Oh. I still wonder how that dude got my private email address. Anyway rest assured that it is not for sale. I love this bass. It actually fits me better than the other two.

Hey Ollie -
New Member here, just joined today. A guy by the name of Sean Coeplin from the UK said this was his bass and had it for sale on Ebay. I do believe it was the Honeyguitar name. Anyways, he told me he had it listed with Square Trade and tried to get me to Western Union him 3100.00 for it. He sent me the same Guitar Center Pics. I guess there are a lot of Stupid people out there.
Glad you like your new bass. Take care -

Yea, thats the third time I've seen this schmuck list it. He flat out stole GC's add too. I bought it from direct Guitar Center. I played it yesterday at church and it really sounded great. I love my 5 string basses but,hey man I'm old school, played 4's for over 25 years.
Let me know how you like the bass once you get it, I like the wood on yours better than mine it looks great. Any questions you have the guys here are great too.

There you go. I just left you a reply on the other thread. Yeah, that guy said the bass was with Square Trade in the US and he was in England on business. Then he said the bass was there in England with him. Man, I wonder if people actually fall for that? Yeah, he totally took the exact GC ad. Unbelievable. Thanks for the info, I'll definitley scour this site. I play a slew of other instruments, mostly 4 as well. This Alembic makes # 15 for me. I see you play a lot as well, didn't look at your profile before I posted the other thread. My latest acquisitions this past year are a Wal "Geddy Lee" mach 1, a '68 Hofner Beatle bass for playing all things Mcartney, a Hamer USA 12 string for the Kings X / Pearl Jam stuff, a Bean - Valeno All Aluminum 8 string, a 77 Fender Jazz, and an Adam Niti Signature Warrior 6 string. I also own two Warwicks, a neck through thumb 4 Bubinga, and a White Streamer II with the LED's. Two old Spector NS2's from the 1980, a '75 Fender fretless Precision, a Washburn AB20 Acoustic, and a Yamaha John Myung six. Have you seen the Dingwalls with the Novex fanned frets? I can't wait for this Alembic, my Entwistle needs some refreshing in the ole' woodshed. ( Can you see the real me? ) Take care - Dennis

I just got an email from the guy again yesterday. He told me he still has the bass for sale. Here is his Email seancopelin@gmail.com. He sent me a forged "Square Trade" Member Seal Profile and when I went to the real Square Trade Site and typed in his name for verification, it came back as seller unknown / not affiliated. What a Joke.

he just sent me another email about an hour ago. I told him I purchased another Alembic elsewhere.
I sent Ebay and Square trade all copies of our email correspondence and explained what this guy was / still is trying to do. I hope they nail that Sumbich! Take care -

I sent the guy an email too asking him if he still had it for sale and he replies YES, what a putz! I sent him another asking him if I could pick it up locally. I'm gonna let him take the bait, jerk him around a bit and then let him know just how stupid he really is.

Ha ha! I told him that his offer of 3100.00 was too good to pass up and that I was going to Western Union the $ to him. I let him sit on that for a couple days then he emailed me back wondering where the $ was, he has another customer waiting. What an idiot. That's when I said I bought another bass and haven't heard back since. You'd have to be a real sucker to Western Union $ to anyone other than a relative.
