I've been lurking for a bit as I'm pretty obsessed with handmade stuff from 75-85. I can't wait to find an Alembic like the one Mike Hampton used to play with Parliament Funkadelic back in the late 70's. I noticed a few things about this guitar. To me the build quality of the guitar is closer to a Moonstone than an Alembic. The sandwich neck, knobs, and switches are all identical to the old Moonstone stuff from the 70's-early 80's. And $250,000 is still 10 times more than what you'd pay for a PRS Dragon Series 1 right now. As I'm sure you've already surmised, used Alembic guitars turn up from time to time - nowhere near the number of used Alembic basses. Even the occasional SI will find it's way to ebay or a music store web site.
