they call it a SC but it looks like an Esscence or something with a SC body shape. Does anyone know why it has the pointed head stock?

Because it is an Essence with an SC body shape and short scale...

It still has Essence pickups and electronics as well as the Essence-style tailpiece.

I agree with Bob. My guess is that it was ordered as an Essence with a standard point body, short scale length neck and quilted Maple top. Can't tell whether it has the Essence neck taper ("comfort") or the SC neck taper ("classic").

If you run the quote generator for an Essence and upgrade the wood to 5A quilted Maple and upgrade the body to small standard and add $305 for the case, you get the $6,305 quoted as the retail price in the listing.

I suppose it could have been ordered as an SC with downgraded electronics. But as Bob suggested, the pickups and tail piece suggest otherwise.

I'm guessing the serial number shows it to be an Essence; and if so, I'm wondering if it is accurate for the dealer to be listing it as a Stanley Clarke model.
