That top is awfully red tinted for ebony. Looks more like a straight-grained cocobolo to me. But a pretty instrument nonetheless. Bill, tgo |

The top is indeed macassar ebony. This bass was for sale from a store in Tennessee late last year for $900. A fellow in Washington state purchased it & apparently didn't keep it. Mica ran the specs on for me...here's the link: http://alembic.com/club/messages/394/22332.html?1132194027 |

That looks like a good deal for that upgraded top and condition. I think you will really like it if they've got it set up reasonably. |

I have some pics that the guy in Tenn sent me - the bass alot of dings & particularly the finish has taken a beating in the back. I'm kind of picky & if it had been in better shape, I would have grabbed it for $900. Heck, if it had been in better shape, I'd have probably paid more. Nice top though. |
