This seems a bit suspicious. someone claiming to sell an alembic orion 5 bass when it's obviously an epic. link I would have thought if you were selling something that you own you'd know what it is... :-) Maybe i'm just cynical. (Message edited by davehouck on July 07, 2006) |

"very rare and out of production". Both wrong. Unless it is a very rare orion with Epic bodystyle. Nice heads up jazzy. Graeme |

This person seems to have been misinformed (at the very least) unless they are just outright making things up as they go. ... Long Live the Orion! - Tom |

Looks to have a flame koa top, which is probably more attractive when shown in close-up than it is in the poor picture. That top is a 1500 USD option, by the way. Also, most Alembics do not have the model name printed anywhere on the instrument. My 94 Epic came in a cardboard box, without a buildsheet, straight from the official Dutch distributor at the time, Wils - and check out that flame koa here: http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/27473.jpg |

Note: we are looking at a "seriously pro instruement"..... Adriaan: Can you recommend a good case available in Holland? I'm still looking for a case for my Spoiler. I have a Justincase but it does not fit the bass very well, the case is too wide. I've asked EvH about Alembic cases but he told me it would be very expensive and it would take a very long time before it reaches this side of the huge swimming pool... N.B. Nice bass! |

Flip: I was lucky that my 2nd hand Spoiler came with the original case. The body is really wide, and it doesn't fit most generic cases, so take it with you when you go hunting for a case. With the long upper horn and the extended lower bout of the Epic, it won't fit in most generic cases because the neck support is too close. I found a Stagg case where the Epic could fit without a problem - but the case is much wider than the Epic body, so the instrument will move inside, which is not good. But as wide as this case is, it's still not wide enough for the Spoiler! It's not really a problem for me, since I'm a living room player these days ... Good luck with the case hunting! |

Thanx! My Gibson Ripper is even wider than the Spoiler. It fits perfectly in the Justincase. With the Spoiler I have the same problem you have with your Epic. In 1998 I bought a huge amount of bass gear, I also ordered an Alembic case for my Spoiler. The seller (Tonika) told me they were available and I payed in advance (for the whole deal) I got everything except the case, ended up with a refund... I play every week and use a gigbag... shame on me! N.B. sorry for the hijacking... (Message edited by fc_spoiler on July 07, 2006) |
