Up for sale is my beloved Stanley Clarke Deluxe Custom bass. For a full description and pictures of this instrument check out http://www.alembic.com/info/fc_stages.html
I am based in the UK but would be willing to ship abroad. I am looking for around £3000 for it. The bass is in excellent as new condition. If you would like to discuss anything regarding the bass please feel free to email me at christinafordham@hotmail.com

Saw it on eBay - If I hadn't been on holiday or bought myself a Nikon with my birthday money, I'd had my dream 1st Alembic. Still looking at going to the bank manager tomorrow!! Don't think they'll be too happy with me anyway!

Beautiful, (plus a short-scale!!) Laser LEDS. Coco Bolo, the whole cahoonas.

Whatever happened to the Paul who originally ordered the bass? Used to be very active on the old Yahoo forum.

I was hoping it was you Jazzy! £2300 BIN price.

Was going to kick my £2k down to start the bidding last night, and it had gone already....

...let's hope a member here has picked up the bargain.

yeah and for the UK thats probably a good price.
Like you I was seriously having problems saving myself from bidding on it. But if I did I'd still want a Series I or II so its best that it went before i made a decision. :-)

I'm really looking to save my pennies for a Series I or II bass. But they don't really come up that often in the UK. Many of the ones I've seen are in the usa and are the older 1970's models which probably need the electronics upgrade which is probably an arm and a leg.

I think if the right model came in the USA , the way the pound to dollar rate is now, its probably gonna be a bargain, even if you travel to the states on a cheap flight to collect, and have a holiday as well. lol.

Thats what i'm hoping, although travelling there at the moment is probably quite risky.

Have you seen this place ?

or this one in Germany

I hope you manage to get one soon. They really are amazing. It's probably the only time that a dream and its reality are the same.

I'm the same Jazzyvee. I tried out a few SC Deluxes in the States but was a bit dissappointed with the sound compared to my Series I so I'm holding off. I contacted Val for the price to retrofit the pickups but by the time you had a two way shipping cost then it was working out about the same as another SC Series II I've seen in Europe.

I'll keep my eyes peeled...

I guess if you already have a Series I you may very well find the sound of the Signatures slightly inferiour. However not having a series bass yet. I am completely happy with the sound of my sc deluxe and would relish the opportunity to make that side by side assessment.

That said, I would probably say that they just sound different rather than be disappointed with the SC Sound, it is still an awesome bass.

Don't get me wrong, I really liked the bass which had a much better sound than some of the basses I have. Looked awesome as well, even my girlfriend agreed! I had about 10 cigs while I made up my mind but what it really came down to was the fact that I really want a Series II so I should wait until one comes up. I was ready for buying without trying but I'm glad I did coz I'd have always had this little voice in my head telling me I should have waited.

Maybe when I'm a little less busy we could meet up and you could try the Series side by side.

I'm so bummed not bidding on it - I even had all the money ready for the BiN on the Saturday...

only Alembic I've ever played was that MK standard at the Bass Gallery. Was truly beautiful, and played so clearly. A little too clear for my liking - I prefer 3 month old strings (played about 5 hours per week) and I always have Treble 4 Mid 6 Bass 7 on my old Roland 60 Cube amp (yep, one of those orange-tolex covered things!!)

Must be trying to sound like James Jamerson all the time!
