Who know's how much english the seller know's...
I've seen his 'woodworkings' up over the last few months. I think this one has a title that could be misleading; he should've added "inspired" after 'Alembic' in the heading.

i came to the forum solely to see if anybody'd spotted this. However, how could you miss. Blatantly misleading. After some research though, I hear the alembicians are licensing the name out and this IS in fact a new Alembic, worth thousands.

Doesn't look like an Alembic to me 'cept for some shaping. Where's the ply neck? And my favorite item, the scarf joint?

Mmm scarf joint

He bought it thinking that it was an Alembic that someone had stripped down. Really, he should have known better, He's been an Alembic Player since 1976 when he got his Series I, which he still has today. Anyway, he tried to get back in touch with the guy and the guy wouldn't respond for several weeks. When he did respond, It was rich. Real Rich. It is the Whippets Dinkle Here is what the guy said:

First let me tell you that I have an excellent relationship with Mica, from Alembic, which you probably does not even know who he is.

Second, me and Mica exchange emails regarding Alembic's name on the title of the auction, and for your information, on the description of the item, you may use one brand name to compare to your product. But as informed and you may seen to be, I think you knew that.

Third, there is nothing inferior in my products, and they are build with the best you can find and have the best sound after finished.

you have not paid for the item anyway, almost two weeks, so stop bitching about it.

last, i wont and i dont think i need to tell you what to do with your offer.

BTW, the bass sold to a different buyer, which has paid what it is worth, which went for a lot more than $400. and i gave him a free carring case.

take care

Isn't that great. My dad did pay for the instrument in advance of recieving. And apparently Mica is a guy now.

Mica and Alembic are working on the issue though.

WOW, he sounds like a real great guy.

Geez, I've spoke to Mica on the phone before, sure didn't sound like a guy. LOL :-)

Is this a vaild licensing gig? If Mica could weigh in, I'd like to know if Alembic is licensing their name to builders. Personally I only want to buy a bona fide Santa Rosa born Alembic.

To be the DA, it is possible if the guy is using some sort of translator program the gender could get messed up in translation. Cruddy attitude though.

I have emailed this seller before. He's agreed on at least 2 different times to stop using our trade name and sell his work based on its own merit.

I prefer to work directly with people if possible. But since he's continuing despite my encouragement and his agreement to do otherwise, I've been forced to contact ebay through their verified rights owner program.

Please bring anything like this to my attention here on the Club, thanks.
