For some reason my "alembic" search agent on ebay is turning up all sorts of chaff lately. The new thing is this guy in brazil ( mastersbasses (0) ). i love the disclaimers: "For reasons of copyright we cant put trademarks on listings titles example: Ken Smith, Fodera, Warwick, Alembic, Warrior, etc... We have very serious problems with these builders in the past and now, All ou basses will be listed as CUSTOM ok. Thanks. Now i see why alembic wont sell their logos & name plates without a bass to apply it to,cause someone could easly fool some unsuspecting customer one of these cool looking bodies for more than they're worth! |

Geez, if it really 'sounds and plays like the Alembic series 2 in our studio', why not sell the Alembic for a lot more and keep this one? Do you think that maybe this $389.50 BIN Jay Turser doesn't quite sound and play like a Series II? Naw, that couldn't be it. Now excuse me while I go pry my tongue from my cheek. Don't get me wrong, it'd be hard to come even close to a Series two sound with that Bass. However, I do have a Jay Turser guitar that is quite stunning. I bought it on a whim, and it replaced every guitar I owned and became my main axe for a year. Until I got my Skylark that is. Then another year...Futher is the main guitar...and I don't have the next one figured out yet after that. It is possible to get one of these mass produced low quality things and have it sound fantastic. I have purchased 3 other Jay Tursers, and sold them becuase they were not even close to what the first one was. |

When I was working at local music store, we recorded an album for a trio of guys that were working there. We got away with it by telling the boss that it was for demoing all of the studio equipment. Anyway. We had just bought a couple of Jay Turser basses from the local "rep"tile. They really sounded great on the recordings. My alembic Essence also made it onto a couple of the tracks. |
