My friend and ALEMBIC-ONLY dealer, Will Gunn (www.willgunnguitars.com, 615/824.3245, gunnwill@hotmail.com) has his website up and is in the process of finishing it. It's a few miles from my house, so here's a preview of what he has for sale: 1. Will's 2000 COTM, the 'CocoBolo Fantasy'. CTC coco front and back, ebony lams, gold hardware, FatBoy 5/6s, you'll have to refer to the 'Previous Customs'. The MOST bass I've EVER played. Stupefying looks and tone. 25% off it's 2000 list price, $7699 w/case, an utter STEAL and untouchable at this figure vs. 2005 prices. Unplayed with new warranty. To die for . . . 2. 2006 Brown Bass. I'd never played one before. The classic original recipe: Small Standard shape, short scale, Mahogany/Cherry/Walnut neck with ebony board with abalone and n/c red LEDs, Walnut front and back over a Myrtle core, in a true oil finish. NO maple. Anniversary Electronics with AXY's. I'm not the biggest Stanley nut, but I sure FELT like it test-driving this axe! $5999 w/case. 3. 2005 Essence 5: Auburn colored Burl Redwood face, looking in spots like an ostrich leather grain pattern. Stunning. Mahogany body, maple neck with purpleheart pinstripes, Orion 3+2 headstock in matching Redwood. Dual MXYs with Q-switch and free red LEDs with switch. $4599 w/case. 4. 2005 Orion 4: Drop dead Purpleheart top with flame maple accent line over mahogany. Matching Orion 4 head in purpleheart. Essence electronics with Q switch and 2 FatBoys, brass back cover plates. $3159 w/case. Will is aiming to be the second largest stocking dealer after Bass Central, and has set big wheels in motion to do just that. He's played ALEMBICs since the 70s and KNOWS these instruments. He's one of these sunny, unfailingly polite and professional people you would trust to spend big $$ with. I think it's an exceptional thing he has stepped up to be the ONLY exclusive ALEMBIC dealer in the world. And his prices are certainly reasonable! He just recieved an Amber Skylark, there is an inbound Mark King this week, and there is more in the pipeline. My head is just spinning from seeing this many ALEMBICs in one sitting!! Hey, Joey: I plan on making the drive down from Dover pretty soon to see them myself. I have only talked with Will on the phone and I am looking forward to meeing him in person and seeing his inventory. He really, really loves to talk about the Alembic experience! That Skylark sounds like a tremendous deal.... David |
