of the 20-30 reviews I've seen online, every one is raving about how his bass is the best one in the universe, among them I've found owners of 7-8 thousand dollar basses, like Ritters and Foderas..Jorg Schroeder, owner of Schroeder bass Cabinets has one,it's his main axe. his review is one of the ravingest.!
I'm a player for almost 30 years,I've owned them all, Alembics galore, tons of basses..My FBB is the only instrument I've ever raved on like this about.
FBB is still small enough where Matt puts tons of love and attention to every fret, every fingerboard, the way he sands and contours the bodies..they feel smooth, satiny, luxurious in your hands.

A strong, punchy bass, good meaty low end, cool slappy tones too. chechen top is cool,I was surprised, the pictures don't show the cool swirly figure at all. woodworking is exquisite!..
Warm,modern tone..very classy,elegant sounding bass.
electronics are great, quiet too. Thick lows, really meaty, yet punchy. Nice, complex mids with classic FBB tone. Indescribable, you have to play it to understand. My main axe is another FBB with the same pups and preamp, I swear by them, they're the best sounding humbuckers on the market,at any price,in my opinion.
Neck is on the slender side, quick and great access to upper reg. 24 frets.

I bought this for $570,including shipping and gigbag, virtually unplayed, from the original owner,I put $475 into it:
$200-pickups -brand new Bartolini M34c soapbars from Bass Central
$150-electronics-brand new Bartolini NTBT preamp w active/passive modes from Bass Central.
$100-Installation of pups/pre,setup,frets leveled
$25-DR Lo Riders,Battery
i have orig ebay link and receipts.

I Bought the bartolini pups and pre from Bass Central, they're unused, new.
so far, I've invested $1045, I'm asking $975 because I need the cash. Please don't try to negotiate on a price,These basses start at $1400 new, this bass is unplayed,
original owner bought it at a discount from Matt without pickups and never bothered to set it up or play it, He stuck some emg's in it and lost interest.
It's a bass you can really fall in love with,Matt's famous for his odd wood choices, his different headstock shapes on every bass, his earthy looking state-of-the-art woodworking,& for smooth, elegant TONE.
take amazing electronics, add amazing pickups and toss them on a perfectly crafted bass, you're bound to get tone.
When I first got mine, I'd rush home from work every day to play it,FBB's are so fine.. This is a perfect specimen, the sapelle neck is cool, dark wenge fboard has nice reddish streaks, and the figure on the chechen is really different,an interesting topwood.
bass is still listed on FBB's site under "Gallery" section under heading,"Kevin's Bass"
http://www.fbbcustom.com/show.php?MNS=70&MXS=80&TS=A&TY=A

My main bass is a 32" scale FBB,also listed on this website..under "Kevin's bass" as well.(not for sale)
it sounds similar, same pups and preamp. The 34" scale of this bass is feeling very long to me these days, I've become used to my shorter scale,I'm tired of strettcching and reaching for notes.Since getting my 32" scale FBB,every bass in my collection has been 100% ignored.
I need to thin the collection out a bit, and sadly, my beautiful chechen FBB must go.I've babied it and put alot of work into it, it's all polished up with a fresh setup by Ritchie Baxt,(guitar tech for The Strokes),
Action is set low now with a new set
of DR LoRider mediums, comes with nice quality Fender gigbag.
$975
Will consider half cash and a cheaper 6 string bass,
or any trades for interesting 4 or 6 string fretted,Active preferred, I do need a 6 string, a 'Ray and a Lakland for the "arsenal"Alembics,I still love to death,(of course!) no 35" scales,please.. Cash is best, but always looking for new tones.
come test drive her through my SVT in midtown studio.Ask around, read reviews..this is a steal for a classic neck-thru FBB.
