I think this one has been bouncing around. Saw it first at Bass Palace web site in Scranton, Pa. then Good Guys Guitars in N.J. then they sold it...... to this guy?

Oak core! I don't think I've seen that before. The other thing I find interesting is the serial number 74-59. The other bass on e-bay from 1974 has serial number 74-124. They made twice as many instruments that year than in the previous two combined.

The black PUPs wouldn't be original, right?

There are other instruments from this period in the Showcase section with black pickups; and the single mounting screws on each side suggests that the pickups are original.

There is a nice picture of this bass here.

Hi Guys! I'm the owner of 7459. If I can answer any questions, please feel free to ask. Frankmanno@msn.com. Also, I know the price is high, but with a "Best Offer" auction, I usually move the starting price up a bit so people have room to make "low" offers. Hope you all had a great thanksgiving! Frank

Good luck with the auction and thanks for joining in on the thread. Nice to hear from the owner. I love the looks just out of my price range right now.
Must be hard letting this one go!

I owned and loved this instrument for seven years. I've been watching as it appears to have made it all over the country in the last two years. I tweeked it up, had the fretts dressed, reglued some laminates. It is a wonderful instrument. All the Best to who ever gets it.

Hey BigBass - good to hear from you and hope you are well. I know this is going to sound like "hype" from the seller, but yes, there is something special about this bass. It is the only bass I've ever played where I've had a soundman ask me to specifically bring THAT ONE back the following night! That says a lot! :-) Be blessed.

Now that the fretless is gone I would imagine eyes will be on you!!!!! Hopefully right?
Good luck.
I see you've sent two offers away.

I hope you are right! The two offers were real low although he seemed to be a nice guy. Straight up... what do you think a fair price would be?? No pressure, just curious.

Thanks. Made the offer and hit the road to play with a bunch of my law partners at the NYC office party. Thought the Sermonator was going to give up on me because I was not able to communicate while we crammed in our rehearsal time. Last night, the gig was a wild success (something about a bunch of 50+ year old lawyers playing rock and roll seems to work with our colleagues). And, when I came to this morning, I found the confirm from the seller. All good.

Probably should start a new thread on this one, but was amazed and amused by the number of people who saw the bass I was playing and came up to me to comment on how cool it was, but then had to ask "what kind of bass is that?" Deep breath and speak it slowly--A-LEM-BIC.
