Oh Baby. Why couldn't have been born rich instead of so darn good looking?

This is the first ever classico I've seen on ebay! Oh so sweet! What a rare find too!
Saddle up Duke and ride into the sunset before ya
go and yer'self in trouble.
As was quoted in a different thread----
"get thee back satan"
And Doc.. good lookin' ain't bad!
Po and ugly is bad, rich and ugly is really BAD.

I want that and I can't even play double bass... Well I've never tried.
Would it be a good instrument to learn on? :-)

If you have $8,900 for a whim, I'd say absolutely yes.

This is the second classico that I have seen on ebay. The first one was form a fella in Switzerland, and he had a BIN of something in the area of 5800 euros.

This one is a beauty!

I have to admit I am/was interested in this bass but am going to (need to) pass. I don't play upright enough anymore to justify spending that much on one. It really is a nice instrument though.

Geeze Mike, when I heard the two little voices on my shoulders whispering to me..." buy it,... no save the money,...buy it...no save the money etc."
I never would have thought you'd be the one with the red cape and horns.LOL

OMG... I am in lust! I was pondering tracking down a Classico a while ago and then my job ended.

What can i do to bring this one in to the family? ... dream-on is probably the most realistic answer.

I found the thread from back in June 2006 when I was thinking about locating a Classico.
The thread is: http://alembic.com/club/messages/393/29143.html
At that time Mica recalled that "We've made about 20 Classicos" which is 1/5th the 100 which the eBay listing mentions. This thread of course did not stay on topic and I got a bunch of ribbing because of my lack of familiarity with Stanley (the one from Philly); so there are some good chuckles in this thread.

In preparation for the eventuality that I go completely crazy and bid on this bass. I must point out to all of you that are obsessed with like-new condition Alembics that this bass appears to have 2 or 3 scratches on its back below the neck joint. Therfore this bass is completely ruined and has been renedered entirely unsuitable for you to to even considder placing a bid.

Go for it Eugene. I had contemplated bidding on it but have decided not to. I have too much going on at this time.

I wonder if they've ever made a Classico with side LED's.HMMMMM

this was indeed the bass that was sold to gino and then bought for the ebayer.
i am the new owner.......am picking it up myself and seller asked to meet direwolf-of course he can come for the ride... dont even have to stop to walk him

here is what i can tell you
i posted this in the showcase

the bass was tweaked by ron after the seller bought it. according to seller's comments in email and confirmed by mica when i spoke to her today, it may be the best sounding classico they ever made (so far- esp with that coco in prod) and it's response has been the "guide/model" for every classico made after it.

got one more alembic coming then i AM done
