It was a very tough decision but circumstances dictate that I must part with this bass. It is a brand new Series II 5-string with cocobolo front and back and a beautiful quetzal inlay all done by the fine folks at Alembic. You may take a look at it at the featured custom archive. It is called "flight of fancy" from December 2002. This bass is not only a beauty to look at but a dream to play. Besides the series II electronics, it is very very responsive. Move your fingers by just a half centimeter and you can get a whole new sound without touching any controls. The asking price is $8000.00 plus the cost of shipping firm. It is a very fair price and a lot less than what I paid for it. This will be a great bass for one very lucky bassist. Payment by credit card is accepted. Jorge, this is the saddest thing I've read today. I followed the building of this bass through this very board, and now you must give it up! Terrible. I hope it gets a good home.

I wish I had the money to give it a good home, but alas.

Augh! Jorge,

That's hard!
I respect you' being reluctant about it but are there no other ways out of the trouble so you can keep the bass? We talked Brother Paul (the good one) out of it and he found a way.
It's none of my business ... I know!
If that's the way it has to be. So be it.
Me too followed the process on the club in building this nice instrument.
I hope someone can give her a good home!

Paul (the bad one)

Thanks for the messages guys. She really is a beauty. The thing that gives me comfort is that the people who know Alembics have a deep love of their instruments and I know whoever gets her will give her a good home.

Jorge,
That's terrible. I echo Brother Paul's (the bad one)sentiments as well. I too followed the building of it. I'm sure you've considered all possible ways of trying to keep the bass but if there's anything we can suggest here, don't hesitate to ask.
Peace,
Dino (Paul, the fake one)

I want to thank all of you for your kind words. I am happy to say that I found a way to solve my emergency and I won't have to part with the bass after all. It is good to know that there is a lot of caring "Alembicists" out there. Lets's get this thread out of here!

I'm very happy to hear this, Jorge. I was hoping that it would end this way!

Sell your car, sell your furniture, sell slices of the moon, just don't sell that beautiful series II so soon!

Alright Jorge!! Good to hear the news that your bass is staying put. I'd hate to be in a situation where I had to part with a bass I didn't want to part with.

I've parted with some and regretted it the moment I drove away from the UPS depot, but I'd hate to have to consider offers on something I didn't want to sell.

Peace,

James
