I would consider trading my Series 1 for a Balance K 5 string with comfort spacing....What do you have?
What do you guys think this 1977 series 1 32" medium scale is worth? A few little dings here and there but for the most part a very clean and well maintained bass..Everything works perfect and it comes with the DS-5 power supply and original case...

Hello, Jon.

Someone else may have other ideas, but you asked – so here are mine.

I'd say the range is between $3,500 and $4,500 (give or take a couple of hundred depending on your situation and the buyer's wants and desires.)

If you want to sell it quickly, price it at about $3,500 and I'll bet it will go soon. Price it at $4,500 and you may have it for a while, but who knows? It may be just what folks are looking to purchase.

It seems the short and medium scale basses are highly popular and even more desirable (to some) that the LSB. I, myself, like the big basses. Yours is very nice.

Good luck. HOpes this helps.

If I am too far off the mark I will imagine that someone will 'chime' in and let us know.

the knobs and toggle switches aren't original.

Thanks bro she really is a killer bass but I play 5 string 99% of the time and this series is just going to sit in the case...
The tone is off the charts and the 32" scale makes it a breez to play....

Jonno, I am jealous. Saw that one go in NYC, guess you beat me to the punch? Good work on that. Funny, I was dreaming last night of kind of the same thing; that is, if I got it would I be willing to trade a vintage for a new Bal K 5'er with custom spacing (my dream bass below) that is more to my liking and playing style.

However, hearing so many stories from people who traded their '61 strat for a later model something else with more modern features really makes you stop and think....

Sigh, I thought I was pretty darn close to owning my dream bass... again, great catch.

Right now I'm in midtown kicking myself, but I live in Astoria. I usually post my band's gigs (I Like Orange) under that topic if you're interested. If you play out around NYC let me know.

Just to be clear, I don't own the bass I pictured, I was just saying that is my dream bass; but, all other things being equal, would I trade a nice vintage for it? Dunno.

Here are some more pictures.....Top and back are flamed Koa,Mohogany body,32" scale medium,Some typical finish checking on the neck,
2 small screw hole on the back form an ill atempt to relocate strap pins...Thats it!..
The bass plays new and everything works perfect..
