I'm looking for a good quality midi foot controller. I'm currently using an ART BCC as a midi controller, but I would like something a little more sophisticated, preferably with an expression pedal.

I'm looking at the Yamaha MFC 10 and the Roland FC-200. I'll probably try to pick one up on Ebay, maybe even tonight. Based on the reviews I've read, the Yamaha seems to be a little nicer unit than the Roland. I would probably like the Lexicon R1 except that the reviews suggest quality problems with the switches.

So, anybody have one available? Or, does anyone have any thoughts, opinions, reviews, etc.?

Thanks.

I'm also looking at the Rocktron Midimate. Reading reviews right now; looks good. Doesn't have built in pedal; so I'll have to look at pedals too.

I use a Digital Music Corp Ground Control, the older one. I upgraded the memory so you can get more patches, used it in a mega guitar rack, triaxis, jmp 1 efx, midi controlled mixers, etc. Works a treat. Also use one for digital drum kit.

Has inputs for expression pedals, allowing use of any vol. pedal

Bit more roadwortyh than the rest methinks.

Thanks Raymond! I looked at the new one, but decided it was too expensive and a bit more than what I needed. But I didn't really look much at the older one. I ended up ordering the Yamaha; and because I'm guessing that foot switches are something that will wear out with use and abuse, I decided to get a new one rather than taking a chance on a used one. Hasn't come yet; in fact I've been notified it's out of stock but will be in yesterday <g>.

Well, the Yamaha still isn't in stock; and now I'm thinking about the Ground Control. It's more expensive than the Yamaha, and it doesn't come with an expression pedal. I really don't know that it would do more than the Yamaha; I have no idea.

hey Dave

If you are not averse to Ebay, (I'm not), you'd pick up the older ones for about 100 bucks or less. I bought mine new back in the day for 125 bucks or so.

I upgraded the memory chip myself so instead of 10 banks of 10, I have something like 30 banks of 10 ... which is overkill anyway.

The selling point for me was the Alphanumeric readout, which is quite visible from 6ft ....

re: expression pedal, it will work with any keyboard vol pedal, but I cannot remember if you can programme it independently off the GCX module. (I never used this feature). Give Digital Music Corp. a ring, I found them quite helpful on the phone or via email.

best

Well this morning I received an email that the Yamaha shipped; this was one day after the "30-day backorder notice". So the decision has been made for me and it's on a UPS truck!
