thats a nice looking instrument, wonder how it sounds? But for a $1900.00 starting bid, Id rather save the cash and put it towards an alembic.... |

I am with you on that one GLOCKE! This bass is basically an overpriced Oasis. Oasis shared a similar shape and the same electronics package. The recent auctions of Oasis basses didn't even hit $1000.00 Although this bass is quite beautiful and has much nicer woods. Don't get me wrong, I like it a LOT. Michael |

I am also with you guys. However, being an amateur luthier (read amateur) I have a special affinity for Mr. Cumpiano. Natelson and Cumpiano wrote what it is widely considered "the bible" on guitar building. If it is the case that this is the only bass he has ever build I think it is something very special. |

Considering Wm. Cumpiano's reputation, this would be a one-off I'd definitely think hard about, though it's impossible to know what it would feel like over an EBay ad. I've always wondered what a Series-ish shape would be like with square body edges/binding; this gave me a pretty good idea. J o e y (Message edited by bigredbass on June 16, 2007) |

I was thinking about that square edge too. I don't think it would work for me. I balance the bass with my right forearm. I would bet it would be unconfortable. Unless of course you use the strap button on the horn. I couldn't. |
