Ooh! I want it, but I guess I don't want it quite $3500 worth. I wouldn't say that it isn't worth that as I suspect that someone will pay it. I'd go $2000-2500 for it, though. It is misrepresented as a Series II so I am emailing the seller. |

This one WUZ in Tennessee. I emailed the seller and he said a friend bought it locally. (He was kind enough to share with me the lowered reserve and I was scratching around to see what I could sell or pawn to get it! I may not know the value of a Scorpion Distillate, but I know this one was worth $2,000! He said his buddy had stopped 'mooning' over it as he had for about a month once it was listed on eVilBay. Oh, well........ |

Oh well, indeed! The comment on the auction said he lowered the price, but it doesn't look like he did. I was the high bidder when he canceled and would have dropped $2495 on a buy now if he had dropped it that much. I have been using the EH POG to simulate an eight string, but the real thing would have been super sweet. |

He emailed me and said the reserve was lowered to $2,000 after finding out it was not a Series. (I don't know if that is true or not, but that is what he told me.) I also asked about local pickup if I was the high bidder. If y'all recall I got burned 2 years ago on a Series bass that was paid for via an eBay transaction with a Candadian seller (Blueknight) and never delivered. Yeah....it still hurts and I like to remind everyone that it can indeed happen. Certainly Not to say this seller would have done that because he readily answered all of my questions and is within an hour or so driving distance from me... ...Not an Alembic but I have a Dean 8 string bass that has active electronics that is sure a nice bass for the price – at least I think it is.... That 8-string Alembic sure did look sweet, huh? I put in a bid that kicked it over $1,000 then the next time I looked, it was gone. |

Well, either the friend was Brian in the mood to collect, or the friend was no friend. I could easily see a collector-type paying the original asking price as infrequently as you see something like this out there. |

I played this bass over the weekend at the Ohio Guitar Show. It was a little awkward, since I'm not really familiar with 8's, but the sound was incredible. |
