The cracks in the paint around the rear of the headstock suggests alot of flexibility. Graeme |

I think, technically, it's a Persuader; note the F in the serial number instead of an S. Also, the electronics are not Spoiler. Vector body shape. |

...and real Metallica vibe would come from the Spoiler, Elan or Europa shapes ;-) The color has the right vibe though, I've only seen black Alembics played by Cliff & Jason (except for the transparant Persuader Jason played during the ...and Justice for all tour) |

Thanks Keith, (his axes may not be black but he does use 18's!) There are a few Palpatine types out there. I hear Peter Steele still has a Spoiler even though he uses Washburns these days. I was slightly tempted unti I saw the cracks near the head. Having broken my Dragon 6 twice I get spooked by such things. If it was lower inprice I would bite and sell a beat up Exploiter I have. Soon the Black herd will be 5 animals strong [1spoiler 4, 3 excel 5's , 1 essense 5 and an almost black excel 5.] Best of luck to the Chi dude selling it. |

Yes Danno, I use 18's. If I recall correctly I thought I saw them on your myspace page. The last gig out I let the opening band bass player use my rig. He got a really big smile and said "Oh my!" as his inards rumbled from them. Keith |

I remember when I bought this, I was a bit appaled by the cracks. I took a chance on it anyways. At the time I had a rock gig it was perfect for. you can't really tell from the pictures, but the cracks at the headstock are actually the evidence of a repair job someone did. The repair itself is top notch, but you would have to refinish it to completly hide it. And yes, it is a Persuader. |

No bids at $900! Single P pickup, maybe that's partly why. Interesting item though! EffClef |

Well, you have a black Persuader in an unusual shape being advertised as a Spoiler. The bass also has issues with the paint and a repaired headstock joint. Finally, the link didn't work for the thread the seller referenced (it shows up with a space in it). I could see how the average buyer looking for an entry-level Alembic might be a bit shy on this one. Maybe it can get a bid or two if it goes around again with better pictures and an accurate description from the start. The full shots of the bass are so poorly exposed that they don't inspire any confidence. You have to strain to see the pickup config and electronics at all. |
