I think he means the bass at Willie's American Guitars, but that's just an educated guess. |

What's the scale length on that? It looks like a short. |

The scale length is most probably 30.75" - short scale. But it never hurts to ask if you're considering making an offer. |

This is a consignment item at Willies. My son and I stopped in and played it while we were on vacation in the Twin Cities this past month. Nice bass, nice tone. too bad it's a four... I told the owner the price was way too high for a Series II w/o upgraded electronics, even with the power supply and cable--and mentioned I was a member of the Alembic Club. I suggested $3500-$5000. Anyway, it looks like he passed the info along to its owner. The sad end to this tale is that Willie also had a couple of Rickenbackers hanging on the wall--and my son decided he liked the tone on those better!!! <oh,> Blessings, Dr. J |

I go in and play this thing all the time. It would be my first Alembic, but I need the consignor to drop it to like $3k. If anyone buys it from here, just know you are a heart breaker! First post, but hopefully I can actually be a club member someday. |

Does anybody else read the utterly hilarious descriptions Willie's puts in their ad in VINTAGE GUITAR every month? They just slay me ! I really wish they included them in their website. J o e y |

Never saw those, but I like the descriptions Mandolin Brothers use on their website. Peter |

I love the Mandolin Brothers (describing a Ric 4001): "This is the standard description Rick white bound top electric bass guitar having the “right angle” white pickguard that bears a single coil pickup in the neck position with a shiny metal surround, and a second pickup in the humongous second, or bridge position. This time-honored transducer is protected by a heavy chrome plated cover that would look at home as, say, a refrigerator handle as might be found in a home featured in Architectural Digest. The end-load chrome plated massive adjustable bridge/tailpiece is also something off of the cover of a science fiction pulp novel from 1959. In the lower treble bout are four large black rotary knobs with silver caps and a three position toggle switch with which to dial in signals from the space ship coming back this winter from Betelgeuse." |

I showed that to my 13 year old son, who commented, "I had no idea you guys (meaning yours truly and anybody I associate with) had a sense of humor." Much to learn, you have, Grasshopper... |
