Sorry, I posted this on the wrong thread. So, here it is again. Since I'm relatively new to Alembics, I have a question that perhaps someone could answer. There is an Epic currently on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/1995-5-STRING-ALEMBIC-EPIC-BASS-GUITAR-COCO-BOLO-EXC-NR_W0QQitemZ120155042491QQihZ002QQcategoryZ4713QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem My question is regarding the headstock. If someone had ordered a Coco Bolo top, would the headstock also be Coco Bolo? And, while I'm at it, has Alembic ever put just the name "Alembic" (it appears slightly crooked) in place of the normal logo with the clouds, etc? It's not that I'm looking to add another 5-string to my collection. I'm more interested in the build history of Alembics and what to look for. Thanks, Dean |

Since about 1980, unless the orignal purchaser requested otherwise, the top and back of the peghead will match the top wood of the body. Earlier instruments usually did not have matching peghead veneers. This bass looks like Wengé to me. The part of the logo with the cloud is missing on this bass - but it was there at one point, you can see two of the mounting holes. To get it replaced, you have to send the bass in to us. We only sell the logos installed. |
