I'm looking for my first Alembic bass, ideally a neck-thru model so that I can work out my needs for the eventual custom ordered instrument. I'm based in the U.K. but distance is not a problem.

It might help club members help you if you gave a little more info. For example: are you looking for a 4-string, 5-string, 6-string, or other? Do you want standard long scale, medium scale, short scale, other... or would any do? Are you interested in any specific body type/electronics packages... or, conversely, are there any that you DON'T like? Are there any particular woods/tops you want/like (and/or don't want/like) or would anything be good?

If all you're interested in is ANY neck thru Alembic... you shouldn't have a hard time finding one. On the other hand, if you do have any additional preferences -such as number of strings, scale length, woods, electronics, and/or anything else- sharing that info will help club members help you!

I'm after any left handed through neck model to sort out what I will want on a future custom build. So pretty much anything would be good for that - I had a word with Mica who suggested that a thru-neck would be a better starting place, but other than that its almost a blank palette to start from. Hope this helps!

It's the same language as Dutch, more like a strong dialect, so here's the highlights:

Price: € 1.500,00 (roughly GBP 1,000)
Instrument: Bass guitar
Condition: Used
Advertized: 22 november 2006
Edited: 06 november 2007
Viewed: 417 times

Description:
Left-handed bass
Walnut figuring
Very beautiful

So it's been for sale for a year. The price isn't too bad, but the pictures are a little vague.

First time seller, located across the river from Antwerp. You are probably required to make a bid, but it's a local pickup with cash in hand.

You could take the ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge or from Ramsgate to Oostende, and drive there in about 2 hours, but traffic can be bad around Antwerp.

There are also ferries from Hull and Harwich to Hoek van Holland. From there to Antwerp is perhaps a 2 hours drive (but traffic can be bad around Rotterdam and Antwerp.

Thanks Adriaan,
My Dutch isn't that good either!

I've left a message via the auction site and I'll wait to see if the seller is still active. At present playing 5 string Warwicks and have 6 string Overwater but its neck is too wide for real comfort (and its a big beast to carry!) I don't know if there are any other lefties out there if this comes to nothing.

Cheers

The top looks pretty cool; and the price seems reasonable.

Marcus,

The site has his phone number as well. Belgium's access code is 32, and drop the 0 from the start of the number.

Hi Adriaan,

The phone number was a most useful suggestion and his wife speaks English well, and will send me some more/better images.

Cheers
