If I can't find a buyer for my Alembic P pickup, I'd like to build an
alembic copy (with help)

I'm not trying to deceive anyone, I just thought the logo would look cool.

The answer is no, you won't be able to get one for that purpose.

There is only one way to get an Alembic logo, you'll have to send your Alembic bass/guitar back to the Mothership. That's the only way to get a new logo if I'm not mistaken...

That would be identity theft. We sometimes see instruments with Alembic labels on them. The uninitiated buy them for the name, not knowing that they have been duped. I admit its a great logo. Someday I may incorporate it into a tatoo, but until then I wear the Tshirts and Polo Shirts, drink from the mugs, clean with the chamois and polish, use the sf2 and f1x, and finally play the varied models i earnestly collected. If the mousepad came in black, I'd get that too. My name is Danno and I'm an Alembiholic. Best of luck on building your bass.

Admitting you have a problem is the first step.

Maybe you should do ninety bass solos in ninety days.

I'm not an Alembicholic. The only time I play then is when I'm alone or with somebody..........
..............OH lord I just realized I'm in denial.

Olie,

PS Danno, I've given the tattoo idea some serious thought but haven't figured out to incorporate it into my half sleeves that are in progress.

THATS NOT VERY FUNNY!

Good to meet you Danno. Seems like you've already got a few fans around here,

I'll never be lucky enough to spend 4 grand on an Alembic. I'm still going to make a copy.

Never say never. I used to say even 1 Alembic is more than I could hope for. Somehow I'm up to 14 with another on the way. No series basses yet like my inked brothers here. I'm inkless at the moment. Maybe if next years cd release is a good'in? Your time will come. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Cool page Danno. Those are some rockin tunes. I'll put you 1 CD closer to your next Alembic.

I see you studied throat singing???

If you're still into it, here's a link to a Canadian Inut's site. She does hers in a modern trippy style.

Thanks. I wish! I'll get to Napal some day. It was actually a joke because we have been so lax in updating things plus our singer is busy with Danzig. Our drummer is actually a chef and foods salesman and our guitarist is an avid diver. Our current cd is available from iTunes, Amazon, Virgin, Best Buy etc.

A Perfect Way is a cool tune. No commercial crap on that CD.

Your singer does a decent job.

id kick one of your guitarsts in the nuts so we can have more bass up front though...

"I'll never be lucky enough to spend 4 grand on an Alembic."

You can easily come by an Alembic for much less than 4 grand, as long as you don't have your heart set on a Series instrument. Keep an eye on the For Sale/Trade section and you will be surprised what you will find pass by (like these:

thanks to hydragyrum and danno.

Danno, I'm not sure if you were being sincere or you were just promoting your band. Anyway, you seem sincere enough. I took the "never say never" to heart and started today with a positive outlook. Guess what happened?

My former employer contacted me (we are in dispute over wrongful dismissal) and I may soon be looking at a $180,000 payday!!!

So, I bought your CD from iTunes and although your band is a bit heavier than I'm used to you guys rock pretty hard. I didn't hear any weakness in the lyrics or vocals, so keep it up and you'll be building a much larger fan base.

I'll pass your tunes on to some friends if you don't object...

Thanks, I was sincere. I hope your fortunes increase and your bass dreams come true. Thanks for getting the album. Everyone counts. Next release will be with a new label and management. Never give up on your dreams and ambitions. Alembic and otherwise.

Hey Skydigger.... Check some pawn shops in Texas. Chances are you'll find an Alembic P-bass copy, w/out Alembic electronics.

Just a thought.... :-)

thanks. I've already got the Alembic pickup and harness. I'm now thinking about adding a graphite neck to a Warmoth body.

I do love the pawnshops although Texas is a little far from the Yukon...

A word of warning: the pawn shop reference was an inside joke.

Every other month or so someone offers a very cheap P bass copy for sale with a decal saying "Alembic Elan" plus a serial number, and they seem to pop up mostly in Texas pawn shops.

Hi Skydigger,

I bought about 8 years ago Alembic guts: a PJ combination with Vol-bal-Fil-Q combination.
Only about two years ago I decided to use them in a more or less self designed project 5I guess the right bass to build it in just won't walk by)I asked a luthier -Ellio Martina in The NEtherlands- to build me a bass around it: a Sadowsky-FenderTele-DC Curlee "hybrid".
I didn't use the Alembic logo (which I DO have BTW as a pendant).
It is -following what my colleagues bassplayers her eover the pond say- one of the best basses one can play. I have to add at this that those players are most of the time Fender-addicts. So in fact they say that it is the best sounding "Fender"-look-alike.
Oh well ...I don't consider this as an insult.
Paul the bad one
Paul TBO on the "A"-bass.

Looks like you've fallen asleep Paul. You need to liven up the set list ;-)

Graeme

p.s. Just kidding, that's a sweet looking bass.

Paul,

I've always admired that bass- I'd LOVE to do a self-build one day with the exact same pickup configuration.

Paul thats awesome that you've got a bass that is uniquely original and that sweet sounding.

I've decided to hang on to my Alembic P pickup until I can decide something special for it. I've got my eye on another project in the meantime...
