The pickups are different, an additional switch is present, the inlays are added (non-Alembic looking), the Dragon inlay on the headstock has been added, along with an Alembic logo, and the brass around the pickups seems to have been changed too. The body shape and wood grain does look the same, though. 'Tis a puzzlement.

I spoke to the assistant manager last night -- he's supposed to send me pics of the control cavity contents and other shots today. Also, he said the finish is rough and there are issues with one of the volume controls. As one might expect, the price is negotiable.

OK, I've got the pics from the assistant manager of the store, if anyone wants me to forward them. The cavity has been lined with copper foil, and the electronics look like Activator guts. I would not call this a Series bass as it currently exists.
