Colin: Alembic doesn't make "humbuckers" per se. They make single coil pickups for use on Series instruments. For non-series instruments Alembic employs a hum cancelling design. This differs from a standard humbucker in that the standard design is essentially two single coil pickups wired together. The Alembic design features a single coil pickup wired together with a dummy coil - a coil of wire without a magnet in the middle. Alembic strat and tele sets appear on ebay every once in a while. I have added these to several guitars. Alembic also makes a humbucker shaped version, such as appears on some Electrums. I'd call Mica if that's what you're looking for. I can't recall ever seeing this shape guitar pickup appear on ebay. Bill, tgo |
