Hey Guys

I am selling both my Series basses as a package deal if anyone is interested before I go to Ebay! This will include one rack mount DS5R and one floor model DS5. The 5 pin cables will be included as well as 8 sets of DR High Beam strings. One original hardshell case in great condition and one flight case in great condition. The maple Alembic tone can be described as very low on the bottom end and tight crispy highs! The Koa Alembic tone can be described as mid range with lots of punch! Alembic did a refinish on the maple bass about two years ago so it is like new condition. The Koa has a few bumps but nothing dramatic and is also in excellent condition. To answer the question everyone is asking themselves, I am playing a different vender instrument now and the Alembics are getting dusty! These wonderful basses are made to be played and I am not a collector so they must go. Anyway, Happy New Year to all and let me know if you have any questions that I can answer for you! Both basses are 34" necks and the maple has strap-loks.

What year was each bass made? Do you still have your super-duper custom 6 string that was built a while ago? If so, is that up on the block as well?

Thanks,

Andy

The maple bass is a 77 and the koa is 80. The six string is gone. Playing a 7 sting now! Hope you are well.

Hey! I've played that Koa bass! I mentioned it in the pinstripe thread elsewhere on the site. It's the only one with accent laminates along the neck I've ever seen. Very nice! It was at Vic Zinn Music in Noblesville, Indiana (an Indy 'burb), in 1981, and I played it a LOT with and without a strap to try to figure out if my arms were long enough for a long scale Alembic..

Keavin

While some might say my mind is not in perfect condition I am glad to say that I still have it! Hopefully you guys will allow me to be a Alembic guy even though I will be without an Alembic at some point. Maybe some day I will do like Brad and get a multi string Series I or II.

Ah yes, the tendonitis machine! That Conklin Bill Dickens is a wonderful instrument, if your hands have the reach. It's a pretty darn cool bass (and then some...), and sounds great. I had a GT7 that I kind of wish I had kept sometimes.

Hello Rory!
You do know you will own Alembic in the flesh again. You can't help yourself, just lke the rest of us. So enjoy this hiatus, but my money will bet you will return to the mothership for another Series, perhaps Series II this time. You are a tremendous asset to the club, and always provide thoughtful information and commentary. Now please shoot me an e-mail for your asking prices.

Dave and Steve

I appreciate the good will and you are right a multistring Series I will be in the future at some point...just not sure when? Already planted the seed with Mica, planning a trip up to visit next month to try out some new instruments though she promises to have some pretty cool toys up there to try out.

Rory- bless you and PLAY MUSIC- I cannot fathom playing more than 5 strings myself, you are the man- I will always respect and welcome your presence here on our forum. Michael I currently cannot play more than semi-professionaly as I still have too many other commitments. :-)

Rory:

You're still more than welcome at the Northern California/Bay Area Alembic get together which looks like it will be on March 15th. Keep an eye on the "Alembic Gatherings" section of "Showcase" for info and updates. Hope you can make it.
