Hi all,
For sale is my coveted Alembic Classico. Last I talked with Mica, there have only been nine made ever. This instrument is wonderful to look at and play, but I have fallen on hard times and need the money so I can no longer afford to be her caretaker, much as it saddens me. All reasonable offers (over 6K) will be considered. You will need to pick this up from Colorado. I only have a soft case for it.

Pluses: Stunningly beautiful quilted maple top. 2 veneers under the top with a mohaganey body, flame maple bridge with Alembic 'A' inscribed in middle. Wide-ranging 2 band EQ. Described by several bass players who are FAR better than I as the best playing, most beautiful instrument they had ever seen or played. This instrument sounds incredible, plays even better, and drops the jaw of anyone who dares look at it. I fell in love with this instrument but I can no longer afford to be the caretaker in light of my financial woes.

Minuses: The support peg (which allows the player to adjust the instrument height) lock mechanism does not seem to work properly. Basically, it slips out of the ball-bearings which are supposed to hold it in place. As a result, I have always kept the support peg fully inserted into the instrument and have not relied upon it. Therefore, it is imperative that the new owner use a sturdy wooden block or some other homegrown support mechanism in conjunction with the support peg while playing the instrument in a standing position. Either that or succeed in fixing the native lock mechanism.

If I weren't in the middle of paying for a wedding I'd drive to Colorado for this.

I hate to see you needing to sell this but good luck Andy.

Beautiful Bass!

Thx Olie,

Good luck with the wedding! First thing's first!

As reluctant as I am to sell, it must be done.

What does a classico sound like?

Does it sound like a regular fretless bass?
