Beautiful MK standard in quilted maple on ebay.co.uk (yes you got it, I still dont know how to post links!)

This looks like another heartbreaker for me, quilted maple is my favourite top. Realistic price of BIN £2000.

Yes, I was the first owner of this one, from 2001 to 2006, when I got a new car, found she wouldn't fit in it, so had to trade her in for an SC. Beautiful bass in every respect - was absolutely mint when I passed her on, and it looks like the subsequent owner has looked after her very well. Please somebody make sure she goes to a good home! :-)

Price has dropped to a buy it now of £1800!

This one has come at the wrong time for me - I would have it a few months down the line!

Hi everybody,
and here is the wonderful Mark King, arrived today from Great Britain! It looks and plays great, I really love it and there is a great Cocobolo Excel coming soon.
I bought it on eBay USA some days ago and then, together with my 88 Persuader 5-String, we have a little Alembic family here in Hamburg.
Bass regards to all you guys of the Alembic family

What a fantastic collection of strings there. I notice you have a ritter. I love the look of them and have been curious as to how they sound. Unfortunately I've never seen one in the flesh nor heard one.

Do you know any records that are made with a ritter so I can hear the sound?

Hi Jazzyvee,
I got the Ritter only 2 month ago. It really sounds wonderful and plays great. I visited Jens Ritter twice, but I bought this 5-string on eBay in the USA.
For our recordings I always use my old Fenders. But on our myspace site, you can hear one song called "Sitzen aufm Sofa" (Sitting on the Sofa), a german version of an old Kinks Song, played with a Fender Precision with a Jazz neck and an Alembic Pickup. That one really sounds great too!
Regards from Hamburg

Uli, is that an old Les Paul bass off in the left hand corner of the second picture?

Hi Art & Rick,

I will take care of all my instruments, I love them all and my Alembics even much more!

I collect for more then 30 years and own more than 200 basses, guitars and amps now, you can say, I`m a little bass crazy.

The bass on the second photo is a Pearl from 1974, a copy of a Les Paul Bass. Nice, but you can`t compare it with a real Les Paul Bass.

Bass regards from Hamburg

Hi Uli,

Congratulations! My old Alembic looks very happy there in your fine collection! I'm glad she's gone to a good home!

And is that a Jaydee I see in there, just behind the Gibson six-string?

All the best!

Quite a selection of basses!

How on earth do you decide wich one to play? By the time I had made that decision I would have ran out of my allocated time:-)

Well done with the purchase, good luck with it!

Hi Karl, hi John,

thanks for the good wishes!

I played the MK at the weekend for several hours with different amps and speakers, its really one of my very best basses.

I love the sound, it plays great and really love the typical Alembic look!

The bass you ask for is a 84 JayDee. Very nice bass too, but I think, I will sell it and buy an Alembic Distillate, thats what I`m looking for since some month!

All the best

I think that Jaydee basses are largely Alembic inspired (fair enough!) basses of a reasonably good standard - but I have to agree, a Distillate would be better!

I have wanted a Distillate forever but here in the UK they are like "hens teeth" so to speak!

Good luck Uli,

John.
