I am sure no one here on this site will be interested in this, but here goes. I also hope no one will be offended by this ad being a non Alembic bass! I have Becvar bass that I will be parting with. I am sure I will have to post it on E-Bay to reach a wider audience, but I figured I'd offer it to my friends first. It is a 4 string, long scale bass. This bass is obviously VERY Alembic inspired. It is neck through and uses the same hardware as an Alembic. It has the same type bridge and tailpiece, knobs, oval inlays, etc... Even the pickups look like Alembic pickups....BUT they are not. It is a really pretty bass with a cocobolo top and back with a maple core. It has a neck that is made up of vermillion, maple, cherry, maple, and vermillion. The neck has 2 truss rods. I think that the fingerboard is cocobolo too, but could be something else. On either side of the maple core there is a walnut and maple pinstripe. The bass is in excellent +++ condition. I looked for a ding or scratch and the only problem is a tiny chip at the edge of the headstock. It is barely visible. I have no idea what year the bass was constructed since it has no serial number or date on it anywhere. I am guessing that it was made in the mid to late 70's by the hardware that's on it, but there is no way to know. The electronics are 9 volt, and each pickup has a volume and tone control. There is also a 4 way pickup selector switch with a standby position. The electronics act like passive electronics with no filter controls. It actually sounds prettty good. The bass comes with its original case, which is one of the blue ones that Alembic used for their long scale basses. I will be asking $1800.00 for it. It is a true oddity, and probably quite rare. I got plenty of pictures of this bass. Let me know if you want to see more. Michael Delacerda
