I bet some trimmer pots inbetween might have helped if there was any possibility of pleasing sounds. Most my guitars are passive now... Therefore, the "usual" resistance of the pots was lower and the bass had an inherrantly brighter sound. Other than boost the output a bit, it didn't do much to the tone. Understand I had completely destroyed a vintage instrument at this point!!!
