Okay, I'm not going to keep this eight string. I will put up pictures today or tomorrow, but here's the deal: It's a burgundy US-made Hamer short scale (30.5") eight string bass. The serial number places it in 1989. It has two passive OBL humbuckers in a bridge/sweet spot configuration. The controls are volume-volume-tone, also passive, with a .015 micro-Farad cap on the tone pot. The hardware is chrome and the bridge has individual intonation adjustments for all eight strings. Everything is in good shape, though there are a few dings. It plays well and the neck is pretty straight. The truss rod works and the bridge is adjustable for height. The strings on it are pretty old and showing some discoloration (rust?) but I am not inclined to replace them since I am not keeping the instrument. In spite of this, the tone is pretty nice. The bass came with no case, but I will package it in a $40 Guitar Center gig bag and box it up good for shipping. It will be for sale through Friday 3/28 and I will have to have the money in my hands by 4/1. If no one claims it by Friday, I will return it to the store. I can sell this bass for $950 shipped and insured in the continental US, maybe a couple bucks less if you're in the northeast and shipping charges are lower. I don't know what it's actually worth, but this is within $25 of my cost. -bob |

And here are the main dings: Again, this offer expires at the end of the day on Friday, 3/28 at which point I will return the bass if no one has committed to a purchase. Thanks! -bob |
