That's kind of an interesting question; how may Balance K's have been made with classic tapers and how many with comfort tapers.

Olie; the one you cited is marked "sold"; but it was indeed a nice price for a new bass!

I have to admit I'm having a hard time telling which have comfort necks and which have taper. Of the ten 5-strings on that page, how many of each are there?

Most are now Comfort tapers directly from Alembic unless specially ordered with the narrow spacing....
I don't think any of those bass central basses are available..They keep there sold stock up on the site..
Anything out there guys????

Try calling Beaver at Bass central anyway. He usually has a couple of basses 'in progress' at pretty reasonable rates. that's how I got my balance K.

Great looking bass Jon. Very similar to my Balance K with the exception of the heart omega on yours. Congrats.

IT HAS ARRIVED....
What an incredible instrument in every way....
She plays like a dream and is really like brand new..There isn't a mark anywhere...Looks like it was shipped directly from the factory...
It had the original strings still on her and the guy I got it from didnt play it more than 2 hours total and it's 16 month life......
It is my first Alembic so I need to spend some time with the filters they are a trip and completely different than anything I have ever owned..

25 burgers will take care of the food input.... output might be an issue =)

Congratulations on the bass- it took me awhile to get used to the filters too- my recommendation is to turn the Q's on when you're learning. Having them on made it easier for me to hear the slight changes that resulted from tiny turns of the filter. I rarely play w/ my Q's on now, but I usually use them to help me find the tone range I'm looking for.

Have fun!

Thanks guys I am having a blast and cant wait to get into the studio to lay down some tracks..
I put a new set of DR high beams on 45-125 and basically finished the setup..Only thing I wish she had was independent adjustable bridge saddles to fine tune string to string heights....
Has Alembic even done this or will they??

I don't think they have, jonno. The reason, from what I understand, is that the curvature of the bridge is made to match the curvature of the fingerboard and raising or lowering one string relative to the height of the pickup would throw the relative volume of that string out of whack. I believe this is laid out in the FAQ section of this site in a far more articulate way than I'm capable of at 11 a.m. on a Sunday.

Yea I totally understand the engineering behind it so all strings should be about the same height off the fretboard and following the radius BUT my G and B are definitely lower than the rest and it doesn't seem that my saddles exactly match the radius of the fret board..Saddles seem to have more radius cut into the slots than the fretboard..
I would like to either raise just the B and G strings a hair or lower the E A & D strings..
