Jonno, sorry to hear of your situation. My question for you is this, how would you deal with your medical bills, if you didn't have this beautiful, valuable instrument? My unsolicited advice to you is to put away the bass, in the back of your closet, and pretend it doesn't exist, until you solve your financial situation. There is always an alternative....

Best of luck, JBY

Beautiful bass!

If you can hang on for a while, it seems quite possible that next year the US will have some form of universal health coverage, no matter which party wins the presidency in November. And delicately trying to avoid making this a political post, depending upon which party wins, pre-existing conditions may no longer be a deterrent to coverage, and at the very least, insurance will be made affordable through tax credits. (Again, as I wish to keep this a non-political post, I would point out that there are other issues besides healthcare availability upon which to base one's decision.) So, if you can hold out that long, and depending on what you think the outcome of the presidential and congressional elections will be, you may want to consider holding on to your bass for a while. But you did say that the bills were here now and the coverage is gone now, so I can certainly understand if hanging on to see what happens in November is not an option.

...I have to thank you, it was a great deal with really nice communication!
I arrive in Boston at the 21.05. and we stay in the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel,
606 Congress Street, Boston, MA 02210, USA and our gig is on the next day.
Please send the bass to my hands to the hotel, so, that it arrives than and perhaps I can make the soundcheck with it.

All the very best for you

Uli
