Hey there guys, I'm in the market for a series Balance K. Anyone out there thinking about getting rid of theirs? I've played quite a few older series basses and loved the tone, but the older body style was not really that comfortable for me. It looks like the extra added upper horn area should make the balance K a better fit for my playing style. The problem is there are no dealers close to my little town in Vermont that have such a thing in stock, so I'm relying on "the grapevine" to help me out Thanks in advance for any info you all might have, Dave (an aspiring alembican) |

Hi Dave, welcome to the board! I haven't seen too many, if any, used Series Balance K's. You might have to employ a little patience, or consider ordering a new one. |

Dave, you're on the right track. I've owned an '80 Series 1 and currently a Series 2 both standard point shapes. I had the joy of trying out a Bal. K 5'er at Will Gunn's place and that extended horn helps playing in the first positions more comfortable. I agree with Dave though, you'll probably have to order one as they are not as common a combination body style with Series electronics as they are with Signature electronics. Someone might part with theirs for gas money though! |

Hello Dave and Adam, You're probably right. I have already posted to the Dreaming...for now area and hopefully in a few months I can start my bass-building adventure. It doesn't hurt to ask around. You'd think the Balance K would be pretty popular among the newer basses being built. Maybe the price for a new series instrument is a little off-putting. I know it is for me. ;-) Thanks again for the welcome, Dave |

There have indeed been some Balance K Series basses built. However, owners of custom builds tend to hold on to them for a while; so it takes a while for them to enter the used market. |
