Gregory: You might want to check out the ART units. I recently put together a rack system (F2-B, Lexicon MP200, Mesa 50/50)and did a bunch of research on a power conditioner/strip. If you're looking for the basic (not the very expensive Monster types that not only condition the power but also dry, style, and take it out to dinner and a movie) the ART seems to be the one. The Harmony-Central and other reviews consistently give it more kudos than the Furman. I'm VERY happy with mine. It gives me an analog readout of power levels and has two lights with a dimmer. Four of it's electrical inputs are wide-spaced for wall-warts. A handy design feature. IIRC it was around $100 or less. If you'd like, I can jot down the model next time I'm in the studio. Hey Bill, Yeah, that sounds like one to look at...does it clean up "dirty" power well? |

I don't really know, to tell the truth. I've never really had a "dirty power" problem in all the years I've been playing. I needed something I could plug everything into and just have one plug go to the wall. I also liked the idea of some lights so I could see things on a dark stage. Any "cleaning" is icing on the cake for me. The reviews I've read seem to like this unit better than the comparably priced Furman's. I think there have been other discussions of power conditioners on this site. I know they can get quite expensive, depending on what they actually do. Bill, tgo |

Well, I just bit the bullet and the the ARTunit that has the meters and pullout lights. Pretty nice unit for just under a hundred bucks with free shipping....I used it in a place that usually causes my power amp to go nuts, and it ran great with the ART unit. f^ck furman and their overpriced equipment. The same furman unit would have been over 200 bucks I think.... |
