Does anybody remember how much this guy was asking last time?

It is a little too high to not be exactly what I want, but the wood looks nice.

The electronics look very simple.

Todd.

Previously $6285 opening bid with $6985 buy it now. There was another previous listing, but it is gone now.

Now there is just a $5298 buy it now.

Thanks,
Todd.

I am always bothered when someone throws out a lot of rhetoric with their guitar. Private stock? 10-top? Exhibition grade? These are phrases used by PRS and some other manufacturers out there. I can't say I've ever heard those words used by Alembic.

It's an Alembic made with beautifully figured woods. Nothing more really needs to be said...

It's a fantastic guitar that any of us would love to own, but most would hate to have to pay for. I wonder what it would cost to build one just like it?

This beautiful guitar (as all Alembics have beauty) and its eBay history.

This listing on eBay starting bid $5985 and BIN for $6085 - relisted BIN for $5885 - relisted to the one that started this thread.

It was not me. :-(

I am looking at this spoiler now. And I don't even play bass.

So glad this guitar has found a new home! Wish it were here, but it's not.

That Spoiler is cool... looks to be the decal logo. Good luck Todd.

An 82 with the decal on the peghead, solid koa body wings, and the neck pickup very close to the end of the fretboard - yep, it's an early Spoiler. AFAIK, they all had Schaller tuners in those days.

Howdy all,

I am new here and just saw this thread. I wanted to post because I am the one who just bought this guitar! I also have a 1975 series I short scale that I just love, so I can't wait to get my hands on this beauty. Unlike the original owner, I will be playing this guitar. I am a recording artist and will record with it in my private studio. I know it will look lovely, but I can't wait to hear how it sounds! Cheers!

Jeff:

Welcome aboard and congrats on an absolutely stunningly beautiful guitar. It's always nice to have another 6 stringer around this decidedly bottom heavy neighborhood. (I have a '76 Series I, '77 Series I 12 string, and a Custom Further along with several Alembic electronics equipped guitars). Please post some pics and give us a review of this beauty when you get a chance.

Bill, the guitar one

Thanks, everyone!

I am very excited, as you might imagine. I am definitely more of a 6 stringer, as my 1975 series I 4 string is my only bass (always sounds great, don't feel like I need another). I will try to take some pics and post a review, maybe even a sound sample when I get the new one.

Hey Bill, how is that series I 12 string? I bet it is sick. I have a sweet rick 12 string, which sounds like you would imagine, but it is a bear to play by the headstock, where the neck is so narrow. . . the alembic 12 strings don't seem to come up on ebay, at least that I have seen. I will have to keep my eye out, though.

thanks, and take care,
-jeff

Jeff:

I had a Ric 360 12. Beautiful guitar, great classic "jangle" tone, but, as you noted, the neck was just too narrow. (Same neck as the regular 6). I could chord o.k., but forget about clean arpeggios near the first three frets. I got my 12 on ebay last year (the only one I've ever seen on ebay). Here's a link to my Showcase post for Big Irv. I also have a Fender Strat 12 with Alembic pickups that I'll probably sell when I get around to it as I haven't played it much since I got the Alembic.

Bill, tgo

Wow Bill, that is a sweet looking 12 string, to be sure! great score. I won't sell the Ric, but I will have to watch ebay for something like what you found. . .
