6 string elan seen at Willies American Guitars.
$3500
Serial # 91H6384

It looks like brand new, except it looks like some or all of the pickup screws have been improperly replaced.

There's only one way to find out Loch!! Based on the price they're asking for the the Persuader they have, I'd say they're aiming pretty high hoping that somebody will succumb to gas and pay their price. That Persuader price is well above market- if the Elan is priced similarly, you could probably chop a good chunk off that price tag.

I've had some dealings with Willie's over the years, having lived in St. Paul for 14 years. They have top notch guitars, but usually want top notch prices. Still, whether they are willing to negotiate often depends on whether the item is consignment or not. I agree with the last poster: call them and ask!

What is the body wood on these? Maple?

Is there a posting somewhere that lists standard build info for Elans? I tried the reference section and couldn't find anything.

Any idea what the string spacing is on these?

I assume the quick change bass/treble switches on the one from Willie's were an upgrade?

Loch,

The standard body wood on Elan basses was maple.

I think Danno's Elan above has the standard Elan controls (vol, pan, filter + Q) and the one at Willies has what is called Elan Plus electronics (essentially what you get with a standard Europa/Rogue these days).

I have no idea about the string spacing and beware because as you know, string spacing varies widely on Alembics (based on the request of the original owner).

If you look closely, you will see the boost cut and q switch just below the knobs. It is the plus option. My Excels are built with them and my Distillate has them as well.
