Hello everyone,

I will be listing my 4 string Series I bass on eBay later today. The bass is a 2003 Alembic Series I bass with Buckeye Burl front (bookmatched to center) and back. It has the Triple Omega body shape. The neck has red side LEDs and the inlays are abalone shell. The peghead has the recessed silver logo with abalone. The bass comes with a 5 pin cord, DS-R5 power supply, strap locks, the original paperwork with an unsigned warranty card, hard shell case and Allen Wrenchs. The bass is currently fitted with a new set of the old style knobs and the original knobs will be included with the sale (as you know there is no modification needed to interchange the old style knobs with the new knobs). The bass is in mint condition almost never played. I’m looking to get $10,000 which is less than half of the $22,000 list price (without discounts).

Thanks,
Mark

Whoa, this is spooky....the top wood looks like the twin to my TO (also a 2003 model).

I've never seen such similiar tops on two Alembics, especially with this wood!
Darn, just when I was starting to feel special..... :-)

Mark, sorry to see you're selling; even more sorry that I haven't the cash to buy! I always wanted a Buckye TO as you know, but couldn't afford it when I got mine. Best of luck and I hope it goes to a good home (of course I'm quite willing to give it a good home if anyone fancies buying it for me :-) )

Hey guys, thanks for the nice comments on the bass. I hope someone in the club gets the bass. Bigbadbill I appreciate your condolences as the bass will be greatly missed. Funkyjazzjunky isn’t 10,000 in Zimbabwean like a $150? That would even cover the cost for the upgrade to abalone shell inlays, but I like the effort it made me smile.

By the way the bass is listed on ebay

Thanks again for the nice comments and let me know if I can answer any question.

Hi, the bass didn't sell even though it had 50 watchers. I thought it was a fair price, however I'm thinking about relisting it for $8,500 with no reserve and no buy now. Before I relist I wanted to test the waters here to see if anyone is interested or perhaps some advice on selling. Another option is to start the bidding at $1 to get people interested.

Starting the auction at $1 will let you see what bidders think the bass is worth.
Set the reserve where you are comfortable.

That's a very nice bass, but it may take months to find a buyer that can afford it.

$8,500 is pretty damn good pretty, especially for a bass that nice. I agree about the reserve strategy.

Always set your reserve at the amount you are prepared to accept for the bass, that figure is up to you.Whatever you do is don't sell it for a ridculously silly amount because you quite often find that there is a buyer out there for your bass.Patience is the key.

It once took me 6 months to find the right buyer for my SC deluxe,i kept getting stupid offers, then someone happened upon it and it was exactly what they were after, some days i thought it would never sell, but everyone was happy!

Thanks for the good advice. I think I will post the bass again with a reserve and the $1 strategy.

Thanks again, I know the new owner will love this bass. Maybe if it takes long enough to sell I will keep her :-)

I just relisted the bass for $10,000 or best offer. I was going to set a reserve price however the reserve option was too expensive. Thanks again for all the great advice.

It took me 2, possibly 3 attempts to sell my SC Deluxe. The more expensive the bass, the fewer buyers are out there (particularly at this time), and the more you may have to wait. Of course if I come into money, I'll save you a lot of bother! :-)

Is this still around - the same photographs are appearing on UK Craigslist and Gumtree sites but the 'seller' is not responding?

I still own the bass (and it should not be posted on Craigslist), I tried two times to sell the bass on eBay, tons of lookers but no one pulled the trigger. The bass is outstanding, one of the best sounding Alembic's I've ever played and I have owned some very special ones. I am debating about keeping her, that's why it hasn't been listed again.

pierreyves, thanks for the offer but I was looking for a little more.
