Well, I thought I'd start what I expect will be a long search for a Series 2 5er.They don't appear too often, but I passed on 2 last year (one on the old Yahoo Alembic board that looked very sweet & one at Bass NW), but now I'm watching, funds at the ready. If anyone has one they are thinking of selling, run it by me! thanks, Frank ( videoimage@sympatico.ca ) (Message edited by Yggdrasil on August 03, 2003) |

Ooof! I also passed on the one at Bass NW. Been kicking myself ever since. Brian has it now. This was the one I let get away. http://alembic.com/club/messages/411/1240.html?1038074746 Mark |

Yep, that same ole kicking sound can be heard up here as well :-) That isn't the one from Bass NW, though; that is the private sale that was on the Alembic Yahoo board last year. Brian, ya tired of it, yet :-) ? email me. (It's not like it is a bass I NEED right now - it's the only one left in my GAS account (unless, of course, Alembic ever brings out the Casady/Alembic#1 quasi-reissue...) |

Actually it IS the one from Bass NW. Geoff told me that's who he purchased the bass from, however, I AM NOT tired of it at all :-) The bass certainly gets its share of attention even from non-players. You'll fully understand what we are saying, once you own one of these. In the mean time continue searching, and never allow yourself to become discouraged or pressured to settle for anything other than your series II. If I didn't have the support of several members here in the club, I wouldn't have my bass. |

hey Brian- well I have mixed feelings about you not being tired of it ! :-) Geoff proabably bought his from Bass NW, but the one I meant was a used one from last Dec. that was asking $3999. Not as nice as yours, but here's the description: "Alembic Series II Custom 5 string Bass Now this is an ultimate 5 string bass! This one is a custom built 1997 Alembic Series II model that features a Mahogany body core with gorgeous Ziricote top and back wood. The 34" scale neck-through body construction features a seven piece Maple/Purpleheart neck with a 24 fret 2 octave Ebony fingerboard and oval inlays. The pickups are the famous Alembic Series II active low-impedance "soapbar" type that are powered by a separate rack-mount power supply unit. The bass has the Alembic dual low-pass filter eq. system that gives you almost every tone that is imaginable. This bass is in excellent condition, comes with an Alembic hardcase, rackmount power supply with cables and is on sale for only $3999.00"

Frank (and all): I have been thinking about selling a Series II 5 string of mine...it's a 1996 with a killer quilt maple top and customized electronics. You can seen the bass under the "Showcase" topic. Follow the links for Series II basses, and then "1996 5 string in 5A Quilt." Give me a shout if you are interested. |
