I am testing the Alembic waters and considering a trade for my 1979 Hyak bass (not really sure yet). I am seeking a medium or short scale Alembic (preferably short). I have taken good care of the Hyak over the years and it is in excellent condition. The Hyak is a 35" scale with stereo power supply that performs very much like an Alembic Series instrument (all the same bass controls, 5 pin XLR and an excellent sound). Below are a few quick current pictures of the bass along with literature specifications. I originally purchased this bass from Hollowood Music in Pittsburgh, PA circa 1980. Questions?

Thanks,
Art

Is all the dark wood Macassar ebony? If so, cool! That is quite a jewel you have. Keep it! Keep it! Keep it!

I don't know for sure what all of the woods are. When I purchased it there wasn't a case for it either (or any kind of wood identification) and Hyak had recently closed their doors. I've used a Mooradian gig bag since day one. You never know I may get offered another jewel... if not I will continue to enjoy this one for sure. Thanks.
