Here's a nice looking Spoiler on eBay from the decal generation.

Sweet bass, an early specimen. Haven't seen any of those before.

Wood looks a lot like my '83 Koa Spoiler, so I guess it is.
I think all early Spoilers had a solid Koa body...

Yes, and the earliest ones had decals instead of bronze logos.

The pics look a bit unnaturally light to me. I had an '82 solid koa and it looked more orange than this. The ebony looks sort of light brown, too, so I think the balance on the photos might be a bit off.

My 83 (now black) was solid koa. I was under the impression that the first runs were that way. The Kaman ad featured the solid koa type. In 86 I was able to get the different top and Alembic chose a purpleheart body for the quilt maple top. Of course with Alembics there are exceptions and one offs.

I've had two '83 Spoilers (still have one of them) one Yellowish and one brownish (Both solid Koa, see pics)

@ Danno: Please tell me you did not paint that beautiful Koa Black?! That's heresy! (finally got to use the angry smiley )

Edit: There are some '83 Spoilers in the showcase section with a top, I guess somewhere in the second half of '83 the Koa wasn't standard on the spoilers anymore...
