Hi

Very reluctantly, she's got to go - fallen on hard times and can no longer afford to keep her :-(

Custom options include coco bolo top and front/back of headstock and 2 purple heart neck laminates. Not sure if there's anything else 'non standard' on it. It looks more like a deluxe than a standard. Price today would be around $8900. I'm looking for offers around £2300 for it - that's a saving of almost $4000 on today's price.

The bass is in mint condition and it comes with deluxe hard case (case has a few battle scars). Serial Number is 06 SJ13688

The wood is stunning and she plays and sounds like a dream - but you know that already.

If you want anymore info or pics or whatever, let me know.

Im based in UK, but will post to anywhere at buyers expense.

If it helps, The Bass Gallery in Camden recently sold a similar but deluxe model with side leds for £3k, so you may be being over-hopeful, particularly in current climate. Standards usually go for £2k - £2.2k. But good luck!

Given Euro exchange rate, your best bet is to aim for a mainland European buyer - 3100 euros is good to them

What does the back look like? If that's a "standard", it has upgrades to almost be a custom.

I start the bidding at 1600 Pound Sterling (sorry don't have the icon on my keyboard!) plus shipping to Toronto, Canada.

Hey, Viper, hold down the Alt key & type 0163 on the 10-key pad - when you let up the Alt you get £. (0162 is ¢ & 0165 is ¥ - I haven't found the Euro yet).

Maybe if it was a stock front wood with walnut stringers and a few dings that would be about right but come on - very pretty coco front, purpleheart stringers. If it sells that low I will outbid you at £1650 just to keep it on this side of the Atlantic! lol

My serious advice would be to Ebay it with the listing viewable in all European countries. 6 months ago £2500 was 3800 Euro, now it is only 2600 Euro, so they will be gagging to grab what they see as a cheap import!

Cheers Paul. I'm trying to avoid Ebay for as long as I can due to some shocking experiences of Paypal withholding payment, and also due to their, and Ebay's, sky high fees. If i can sell it without using ebay, I'd rather, but if it doesn't go I will take your advice. Good point about the euros.

cheers

That's at least a $3K bass in the US, and $3500 would still be very reasonable. I wouldn't let that go for under £2000 unless circumstances require you to make a quick sale.

(By the way, cutting and pasting the £ symbol from another post works, too...)

I'm not in any rush at all - so I'm only gonna let her go for the right price, an if I dont get it, it might mean that i can convince the mrs that its not worth selling for such a low amount!! ;-)
